I love shows involving witches, werewolves, vampires, and any combination of the three. That being said, I am so often disappointed, but NOT THIS TIME! I started watching the show with no expectations and I think that definitely helped, as the only ppl I see who are upset with the show, are those who have read the books. Since I haven't read the books, I find this to be the best show i've ever seen where several supernatural species exist, and as far as vampire shows go, it is neck and neck with Trueblood for me as the best overall. I am also a history nerd and history student (switching careers at 28 and getting ready to finish a BA in History before starting my Masters), so the emphasis on history here was a real treat for me. This is the only show in this day and age where we are bombarded with so many shows, that I will actually patiently wait for without giving up...I continued to google when season 2 would start and am so happy it has finally started! As for not being as good as the books, well that is to be expected especially since most ppl create the look of the characters in their mind while reading. I read the White Queen, White Princess, and Spanish Princess years before they were turned into shows and was thus 'meh' towards the White Queen show, dissapointed but able to watch the White Princess show, and then couldn't even sit through more than the first 5 episodes of the Spanish Princess and I skipped parts within those episodes. Thus i'm not surprised that those who have read the trilogy that this series is based on feel as they do, HOWEVER, if you haven't ready the trilogy that this show is based on then you will definitely LOVE this show!!!

I have read and re-read the books a lot so use that as a standard as to why I am not as impressed by the TV series. Biggest casting issue would be with Ysabeau... she is supposed to be an ancient vampire who looks like a movie star. The actress is good in the role but I am sorry that was a change that didn't need to be made. Too much exposition is something I don't care for and they are over-explaining things A LOT. Secrets is a main tenant of the books here there are none apparently. Lastly I hate what they have done with the female characters. The Aunts are supposed to be connected to Diana here they don't know anything unless told. Jillian and Satu were also women with their own agendas and agency but now they are just tools Peter Knox uses because he can.

Really did a great job at adapting book into the show. It’s fast paced and packed with details. Small budget show that looks like a big budget, really is quality work. Great casts too. As we all know its not 100% from book but the tv show has kept most important parts of the book and move the story along really well. Love it!! I hope 2nd and 3rd seasons are as good if not better, surly they have more budget to work with now that the show is doing well.

Just another cliched entry into an overused and overly popular genre. Vampire fantasy romance.
  • Love this tv show

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE AND SECOND SEASON! I truly enjoyed being captivated by this fantastical plot and its characters. This is 100% LEGIT interest, honesty and truth being told. And I don’t care who knows it! The AMAZINGLY- talented (and of course breathtakingly beautiful!!!!) actors truly capture the characters of this trilogy. The extremely well-played and well-cast actors /characters of the series/trilogy, gripping storyline, well-executed cinematography, and beautiful scenery makes it sooooooo easy to fall in love with the series from the get-go! I am 100% hooked!!!!... And that’s coming from a person who would rather do anything else but watch a fictional scifi film. Check it out, you won’t regret it!
  • Outstanding Show!!!
